Sun Rising is such a special project: around the countryside, pockets of land are being preserved, field margins widened and canal paths or churchyards better managed for wildlife, but seldom is a nature reserve created from scratch.
At Sun Rising, we are carefully transforming a sixteen acre site of improved grassland into a valuable nature reserve with long-term security and ecological autonomy. As part of our social ethos, we would like to offer the project out to the community so that it can be used as a valuable educational resource.
For primary school groups, there is the opportunity for a trip out to explore the natural world. We can provide worksheets for children to identify simple habitats or species.
For secondary schools, we can offer more detailed exploration of ecosystems, for biology or geography studies. Equally there are opportunities for philosophy and religious education.
For tertiary education, there are a number of unique opportunities for students to study development of ecosystems, soil transformation and different species. There are also possibilities around death and dying, and ethics and ethical business.
We are equally happy to work with U3A groups or other adult learning organisations.
If you are a teacher or course organiser interested in bringing a group to Sun Rising, or you are a student interested in incorporating Sun Rising into your studies, do let us know.
